Charles Wuorinen's "A Winter's Tale" conducted by Maestro Wuorinen himself.
The 25-minute work, along with many other Wuorinen compositions, will be
performed to commemorate the composer's 70th birthday.
March 2, 2009, Chicago Symphony Orchestra: Soprano solo in
Carter's "A Mirror on Which to Dwell", conducted by Pierre Boulez.
February 14, 17, 19, 22 (mat.), 25, March 8, 13, 21 (mat.), 24,
27, 2009: As a Studio Artist (returning from 2006 and 2008 seasons) Ms.
Miller will sing Giannetta in L'Elisir D'amore with Sarasota Opera.
March 7, 10, 15 (mat.), 19, 22 (mat.), 25, and 28, 2009: Jo Ellen
will cover Thibault in Verdi's original French-language opera Don Carlos with
Sarasota Opera, conducted by Maestro Victor DeRenzi.
April 22, 2009: Jo Ellen will sing Elliott Carter's "To Elliott with Love: Emily
Dickenson Song", in collaboration with world-renowned harpist Ursula Holliger, at
the 92nd St. YMCA.
Ms. Miller sang the soprano solo in Elliott Carter's "A Mirror on Which to Dwell" at
Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, MA. The concert featured members of the
Tanglewood Orchestra, and was conducted by Maestro Jeffrey Milarsky.
Ms. Miller sang the role of Juliette in Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble's concert
performance of Romeo et Juliette, conducted by Christopher Fecteau.
Ms. Miller was featured as a resident soloist with the John Duffy Composers'
Institute (part of the Virginia Arts Festival) in Norfolk, VA. She sang world
premieres of operas by Jorge Muniz, Leanna Primiani, and William Withem, and
had the privilege of working with director Rhoda Levine and conductor/baritone
Patrick Mason.
In May, Ms. Miller sang in a recital entitled "Figaro and Friends" at the Rolling
Rock Country Club in Ligonier, PA. The recital was hosted by Metropolitan Opera
legend Mildred Miller.
Ms. Miller recently returned from her engagement with Sarasota Opera, where she
was a Studio Artist, covering the roles of Gilda in Rigoletto and Lisette in La
Rondine, and sang Pisana in Verdi's I Due Foscari.
